Who We Are
Fourteen People started with two friends, a shared ambition and a lot of conversations that began with “if we were running our own business…”
After several years as joint MDs of a leading specialist mediarecruitment agency, we reached a point where we wanted to create something of our own; a business that reflected how we wanted to work, the relationships we wanted to build and the kind of service we believed clients and candidates deserved.
So, with little more than an idea for a company name, a lot of energy and plenty of ambition, we resigned from our jobs (on the same day!) and took the exhilarating, and slightly terrifying, leap into starting Fourteen People.
Our experience has given us a deep understanding of the creative industries and the people who work within them. It’s also made us curious about how hiring strategy is evolving as technology and AI reshape recruitment.
We’re constantly looking at how we can do things better, combining our experience and human understanding with new technology and fresh thinking.
Sue McLelland
Sue brings a wealth of industry knowledge and an extensive network of contacts. She has successfully managed and developed large, complex, multinational client accounts while also advising smaller businesses on recruitment strategy. Sue is commercially astute, rigorous in her questioning and is able to understand a business and culture quickly to then source a diverse, highly capable selection of well matched candidates.
Wendy Duprey
Throughout her career, Wendy has worked with a diverse range of clients and candidates across London’s media, marketing and communications sectors. She has played a key role in pioneering internship and apprenticeship programmes in collaboration with trade associations, media partners and government bodies. A former judge at both the CIPR Excellence Awards and the IPA CPD Gold Accreditations, Wendy has also been a speaker at numerous seminars, debates and industry panels on subjects such as training and development, graduate employment and employer branding.
